Cold sores are not only unsightly, but they can be painful too. If you're a first time sufferer, or if this kind of infection is the bane of your life, read on to find how you can get rid of cold sores in the fastest possible time.
Caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV), cold sores are an extremely common condition. It's reported that over 90 % of us will develop at least one cold sore during our life. Although your first cold sore is usually the worst and most painful, most of us develop antibodies against the virus, meaning that we may never suffer another cold sore again.

These creams should be applied topically to the cold sore up to 5 times daily, or as advised by your pharmacist. They'll help to relieve discomfort and are reported to heal sore faster. You may also want try over the counter painkillers, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, which will also help alleviate any {pain|discomfort.
For those of you who prefer natural remedies, there are many natural products you can use to get rid of cold sores. Choose tea tree oil, vanilla extract, witch hazel, sea salt, teas, such as green, herbal teas, such as chamomile and peppermint, and the current 'wonder oil' coconut oil.
Should you find that your cold sore doesn't respond these treatments, or if they recur often, a trip to your doctor may be the best solution. They'll be able to prescribe one of a range of anti viral drugs which have been proven to get rid of cold sores in most sufferers.
