Steroids have always been a hot topic among us. No doubt, we show keen interest in finding out the logic and reason behind the usage of these drugs, but have we ever thought of its ethical aspect? How these drugs have been used illegally and how are they affecting our youth? They are indeed destroying our youth’s morality and sanctity. I think that we are not so much concerned about this issue. Rather we keep on sticking on the subject of its severe effects on human health. In this article, I will mainly discuss the ethical side of steroids’ use.
In my opinion, those steroids are morally and ethically right to use that have been subscribed by a doctor to a patient for a medical reason. All other reasons are illegal and need to be revised. Steroid users give a number of logics to support their attempt of using steroids without legal as well as medical reasons but they do not have solid grounds.В They commonly wind up the topic by saying that it is their personal matter but do you think that they are right? If they are spoiling the whole society, how can it be their personal matter?
First of all if the users of steroids are taking these drugs without any prescription, they are violating the laws as in United States, having steroids without prescription is illegal and punishable crime. It means that they are violating the ethics. If they are caught red handed, they would have to face punishment, and if they have been saved from outer agents, they would have to face inner sense of guilt (that is even worse than the previous punishment).В
Usage of steroids in sports is banned now and if athletes are found guilty in dope tests, they have to lose their fame, wealth and good name. The pinching of their inner self for the violation of laws will be another punishment for them. In fact, steroids use is an act of cheating. Because of these drugs, anybody can achieve high ranks by showing extra-ordinary excellent performance. Especially in sports, the effect of steroids is remarkable. Perhaps that is the reason that many sportsmen neglect the ethical aspect and keep on using these drugs. They even do not care about their own health neither do they bother about the legal aspect of it. It is completely unfair advantage that they take and by doing this they break social contract as well.
Now-a-days, new brands of steroids are being sold in markets that have anti-doping effects and can cheat dope tests. Many sportsmen now take these drugs and in this way they cheat their co-sportsmen as well as the higher authorities. They break the rules and violate the ethics. These sportsmen are the heroes and youth follow them blindly. Instead of teaching sportsmanship they are promoting cheating. Do you think that they are doing well? I believe that your answer would be in negative.В Every sensible person would never want to be a cheater.
